GIVE IT TO THE WATER A Lammas Grief Tending Gathering, Tuesday 4th August 7:30pm
As the Wheel turns towards Lammas (Lughnasadh), we enter the first harvest. Nature begins to gather what has grown, while quietly acknowledging that the long days of summer won't last forever.
There is something deeply comforting about this season for those navigating grief.
Lammas reminds us that grief is also a harvest. It is the love we continue to carry after someone, something, or a version of ourselves has changed. It asks us to honour what was, rather than rush towards what is next.
And yet, even in seasons of brightness, grief still walks beside us.
The fields don't mourn because they are harvested. They trust that every ending carries the seeds of another beginning.
Grief moves in seasons too. There are times of blooming, times of barrenness, times of remembering, and times of peace. None are wrong. None need to be hurried.
If you are grieving this Lammas, whether it's the loss of a loved one, a relationship, your health, an old identity, or simply the life you thought you'd have, allow this season to remind you that healing isn't about forgetting.
This gathering offers a communal space by the shoreline in Brighton to honour grief in all its forms, personal and collective. A space to pause with what is heavy, to acknowledge what has been lost, changed, or left behind, and to remember that grief is not something we are meant to carry alone.
The sea has long been a place of release, reflection, mourning, and renewal. A threshold between worlds. A place where emotion can move, soften, and return to something vast enough to hold it.
Together, we will share in gentle grounding practices, reflection, ritual, and communal witnessing beneath the energy of the Lammas sun. We will honour both the light that still exists within and around us, and the tenderness that may still need care.
This is not about fixing grief or moving beyond it. It is about making space for it. Allowing it to breathe. Letting ourselves be witnessed in it, without pressure to be anything other than human.
We gather to breathe, to witness, to grieve, and to gently offer what we are carrying to the water.
