GIVE IT TO THE WATER A Solstice Grief Tending Gathering, Tuesday 23rd June 7:30pm
As the sun reaches its peak and the light of the Summer Solstice stretches across the longest day of the year, we gather by the sea to tend gently to grief, remembrance, and the tender parts of being human.
The Summer Solstice is a sacred turning point on the wheel of the year. A celebration of light, warmth, vitality, and the fullness of life. It is a moment when the earth is alive in abundance, illuminated beneath the height of the sun.
And yet, even in seasons of brightness, grief still walks beside us.
Loss, change, longing, endings, uncertainty, and the quiet ache of what we carry do not disappear simply because the world is blooming around us. The Solstice invites us into a deeper kind of wholeness, one where joy and sorrow can exist side by side, where light can gently illuminate the places within us still asking to be held.
This gathering offers a communal space by the shoreline in Brighton to honour grief in all its forms, personal and collective. A space to pause with what is heavy, to acknowledge what has been lost, changed, or left behind, and to remember that grief is not something we are meant to carry alone.
The sea has long been a place of release, reflection, mourning, and renewal. A threshold between worlds. A place where emotion can move, soften, and return to something vast enough to hold it.
Together, we will share in gentle grounding practices, reflection, ritual, and communal witnessing beneath the energy of the Solstice sun. We will honour both the light that still exists within and around us, and the tenderness that may still need care.
This is not about fixing grief or moving beyond it. It is about making space for it. Allowing it to breathe. Letting ourselves be witnessed in it, without pressure to be anything other than human.
The Summer Solstice reminds us that even at the height of the light, there is room for tenderness, remembrance, and release.
We gather to breathe, to witness, to grieve, and to gently offer what we are carrying to the water.
